Birutė Letukaitė
AURA Dance Theatre together with Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra is presenting the dance performance “Infinities” created by composer Antanas Jasenka and choreographer Birutė Letukaitė.
“Infinities” is my fifth symphony which appeared spontaneously as well as plannedly. Everything has been focused in my mind for some time. Therefore, the costumes of Guda Koster and the creation of the choreographer Birutė Letukaitė influenced me for the following decisions in my music: a massive orchestra and the electronics of cosmic realism. In my creative work – whether it is music or painting – I always use principles of balance, dynamics, tempo, energy, symbol, and abstraction, without which no form of art can give the viewer a flight. For me, the abstractions of costume shapes are the expression of Gothic architecture. In dance I always hear the plastic, which is a spaceship indeed.
There is always the infinity of shapes. They exist in the variety of aspects without us knowing. The form of “Infinities”, presented by us, is a discovery and surprise for us ourselves as well. All of this fits into the spacecraft, which has been launched by NASA to the infinity in 1977 in order to capture the imagery of the planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, to record the sounds and send them back to the Earth. Our traveller will also leave to “infinities”. The only difference is the planets, which will be presented here in the form of dance, costumes, colours, music… and the last message… this spaceship has left the Solar system… How romantic is that!
